The Futures Group was engaged to improve the performance and accountability of the department’s Water Resource Assessment team.
The Futures Group worked with the manager and staff to establish clearly defined behaviours that linked to the department’s values. The behaviours clearly articulated what was expected and what was unacceptable. To highlight individuals’ strengths and developmental needs a 360° feedback process was undertaken with all branch staff. This feedback and the development of individual performance agreements based on branch operational plans led to significant performance improvements.
Formal performance agreements were part of a complete performance management process that includes regular meetings between managers and staff to provide feedback, review goals and coach them. The Futures Group approach has delivered improved staff performance and led to improved accountability in the area.
